Mike Funck

Mike spends his days helping Benchmark turn project opportunities into plans the team can confidently pursue. He works closely with teams across the company on budgets, pricing, strategy, and preconstruction planning to help make smart decisions long before a project ever breaks ground. Mike enjoys helping people grow, improving processes, and tackling complex challenges alongside the team. One of his favorite parts of the role is bringing people together, sharing knowledge, and helping set both projects and people up for long-term success. 

A graduate of Drexel University, construction has been at the center of Mike's career for more than three decades. With experience spanning estimating, preconstruction, project planning, and executive leadership, he enjoys helping teams tackle challenges and find the best path forward for both clients and projects. Before joining Benchmark as Senior Vice President of Strategy, Mike spent nearly 28 years with Wohlsen Construction, building a reputation for leadership and strategic thinking. 

Be curious and never stop learning. Construction is a team sport, and the best estimators take the time to understand more than the numbers, but the people, processes, and projects behind them. He encourages estimators to ask questions, build strong relationships, and stay open to new ways of thinking. Technical skills are important, but success also comes from collaboration, attention to detail, and a willingness to tackle challenges head-on. The best Estimators are always looking for ways to improve and grow as a team!
